Weeks 50 & 51, 2024: Rewind

G'day folks.

I missed logging a week, so this week's note will cover both Week 50 and Week 51.

With the obvious out of the way, I'll start with week 50. On Saturday (Dec 14, 2024), I met up with another ex-NCR colleague of mine at a local café. It was great catching up with him, as we had only ever talked virtually while working remotely.

Apart from that, over the past two weeks, work has been keeping me busy. The main reason there has been break in me making art is the long and exhausting commute to work, which takes up so much of my time. I’m still trying to figure out a schedule that works, but I’m looking forward to getting back to creating soon.

On the subject of time, I’m thinking of doing a recap post for 2024 sometime next week. This year has been brutal and by far the most challenging one yet. It’s taught me a lot about myself—about enduring hardships and recognizing the importance of the people and relationships in my life. (Real recognize real.) That said, I’m grateful for where I am now. The move to Canada didn't go as expected, but in many ways, it’s been a crucial part of this transformative journey.

On a related note, I’ve been diving deep into watches after I broke my Apple Watch. I dropped it, and now the screen is cracked (still works fine, though). Turns out, the repair costs are basically the same as getting a new one. So, I’m DONE. I was also getting tired of constantly being pinged with messages, calls, workouts, and all that jazz. Time to get back to basics.

I’ve ordered three new (quartz) watches, which should arrive sometime next week. I can’t wait. (Someday, I’ll treat myself to an Automatic.) In the meantime, I’ve also started an inspiration board on good ol' Pinterest for watches.

In terms of rest and recreation, I’m still reading the two books I mentioned in a weeknote from two weeks ago (I think). I have also started playing through Final Fantasy VII Remake. I played the original (PS1) version a few years ago but never finished it, and I’m really enjoying the fresh, modern direction of the remake.

This week's song is tv off, by Kendrick Lamar. Can't stop listening — SUCH A FUN TRACK. MUSTAAAAAAARRRRDDD.

Until next time.
