Week 46, 2025: Riffs and rides

G’day folks.

This week went by really fine. The vibes were just right.

I dusted off my old guitar (I bought an acoustic early this year), and have been playing and jamming through some 90s alt rock songs. Those songs will always hold a special place in my heart, especially as I learned (self-taught) guitar on a couple of Nirvana tracks, as a teenager.

I spent most of today outdoors. My sister is getting married next month, and I was helping with the preparations. I ended up driving my family around, and we also went to scope out the venue. It definitely feels a tad bittersweet already, 'cos she will always be my baby sister.

We also spent time at her fiancé’s place (and their side of the family; which is close by my office, so now I have a place that I can probably hang out at and have fun).

My workouts have, once again, been super consistent this week. I don’t have anything else to add, except that it feels really good to take care of yourself and your body. I bought a couple of flannel shirts (after a loooong time), too! Looking forward to those arriving.

Today, I finished reading Dark Matter — a book I started back in June of this year. Man, I’ve not been keeping up with my reading this year at all. I mean there's still 6 weeks left this year and I’ve read 6 books so far. Aiming to read another 4... Let’s go?

I found a really old recording (from Dec 2016) on my phone, of a guitar riff I recorded from a song that I’ve decided to share here. I might make this a regular series, even. If anything, it might motivate me to continue playing my old gee-tar.

BTW, the short acoustic riff above is from a song called Alison, by Slowdive.

Until next time.
