Week 42, 2024: Bauhaus arc(s)

G'day folks.

This week I've been coding heaps — mostly in Processing, but I also decided to switch things up and sketch creative stuff using plain old Javascript, using the canvas sketch API.

More specifically, I worked on a sketch that produces a grid of arcs that moves using a sine/noise based wave function. Bauhaus style baby.

Here is a live demo of the sketch hosted on Github!

In the link above, one can change inputs to control the output, and can then either Ctrl/Cmd + S to save a frame of animation. Pretty cool.

Below are outputs showing both wave functions, in video format.

Using a 3-dimensional simplex noise function below (randomness).

In terms of recreational stuff, I managed to fully clear a stage in the RE4 Mercenaries mode (S+ rank!) Achievement get?

I started reading Hyperion by Dan Simmons today, after finishing Skeleton Crew. I think I've said this in my other week notes and I will say it again — it's great and well worth your time. All the shorts are amazing and have given me a good introduction to Stephen King's writing.

I have also been listening to a lot of Let It Be by The Beatles after watching the Get Back documentary; Paul McCartney is such a powerhouse in terms of creativity and his passion for the art (and the band) truly showed, and John Lennon's quips/antics were quite funny. Felt very inspired. ✨

Along with that, I listened to Björk's Post and Homogenic albums, which I've been meaning to listen to for quite some time.

Today though, I've pretty much been bumping this amazing song on repeat: Image by Magdalena Bay. So well produced.

Until next time.
