Week 40, 2024: Whaddit I Done

G'day folks.

Pretty uneventful week on my end. I haven't done anything of note as I've been busy prepping for and giving more interviews.

I haven't done much in terms of creative exercises either. I've been experimenting with creative coding this week to keep the momentum going, but there's nothing noteworthy to share. I'm considering picking up a few courses or lessons to dig deeper into it.

In terms of reading, I'm still making my way through Skeleton Crew—just a few pages and chapters here and there. I've also been reading some articles on generative algorithms to learn and understand how creative coding works.

On the gaming front, I finished the Resident Evil remake (playing as Chris) and I immediately started a new game, this time with Jill! I also started playing the Resident Evil 4 remake, and I LOVE it. I played the original version back in the day on PS2 but never finished it. Capcom has done an amazing job with the RE4 remake. I'm also excited to check out Silent Hill 2, which came out last week!

As I write this, I'm listening to Sung Tongs, by Animal Collective. They released a live album of their 2018 performance and an album reissue to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

There were a couple of new record releases last Friday that I'm super keen on:

  • The New Sound, by Geordie Greep — I love black midi and am fascinated by Mr. Greep. I'm really looking forward to exploring the direction he's headed in.

  • Cutouts, by The Smile — I listened to Wall of Eyes a ton this year and am eager to dive into their newest release. (Also, two album releases in one year! Let's fucking goooo!)

  • Selected Ambient Works Volume II (Expanded Edition), by Aphex Twin (*re-release) — A classic! I can't wait to hear the expanded tracks when working. Stone in Focus is finally available on streaming! Yes!

  • Absolute Elsewhere, by Blood Incantation — Heard good things about the album being a mix of prog rock and metal? I'm excited to dive into their cosmic sounds.

Until next time—Toodles!
