Week 38, 2025: Restaurant hopping

G’day folks.

This week was HEAVY on work. This is by no means an understatement. It was filled with multiple long days and was generally hectic. One day at a time, as the old saying goes.

It also rained most evenings during the week, and Wednesday evening stands out strongly to me in terms of my memories. By the time I left the office, it was completely empty — I was the only one still working. Stepping out into the rain, I felt a strange, quiet energy that stuck with me.

The bus ride home continued that solitude. The bus was almost empty, and I sat at the front. Rain poured down the windows, rap music filled my ears, and the AC was blasting so hard in the bus I thought I might fall sick. Somehow, that quiet, rainy ride has stayed with me.

I’ve been wanting to write a new blog post this week and have been wringing my brain for fresh ideas or inspiration. Nothing’s really clicked yet, though. Still waiting.

And now, onto the fun stuff, cowboy. 👉🤠👉

This weekend was honestly a RIDE — a whirlwind tour of multiple restaurants with a friend who was here on a work trip from BLR. We did it on separate days, of course. As much as I’d love to bar/café hop all in one night, I am not 24 anymore — but man, I really want someone to attempt it with me, just like Simon Pegg’s character in The World’s End would. I like to think I’ve got it in me, but deep down, I know I don’t. (I’m shaking my head as I type this.) Still, I have enough courage and am probably gutsy (read: stupid) — to try and see for myself.

On Friday, we visited Olive Bistro — I last visited this place back in 2019, and it is good to know that it hasn’t changed one bit. “Kone Kopcha wala” restaurant, as my friend so eloquently and cheekily put it. We sat outdoors and had some good food and beer.

Quick side-note: I somehow managed to annoy my sister by repeatedly calling the place Olive Garden instead of Olive Bistro (not on purpose), until she snapped at me (she has a low tolerance for BS). Pretty funny. I don’t know why I do that — I am not American nor have I ever been to America, so I don’t know where it comes from. Too much exposure to American media and TV, I suppose.

On Saturday, we went to a new restaurant in Knowledge City called Akina, which is an Asian restaurant, and the food and the vibes were great here. The beer — I tried Hoegaarden for the first time — I really, really liked. Very smooth. We also ordered a Matcha Tres Leches because I have a soft spot for Matcha, however I didn’t find it to be particularly good, so it is not to be recommended.

The late night car drive home was also AMAZING. I think I was up and about until 1 AM? Really chill vibes. Might do it again. But it was also a tad exhausting waking up the next day (today).

Today, in the morning, we had a good brunch at True Black, once again in Knowledge City. I had some Veg Sandwiches and Matcha Creme cold brew. (Matcha again!!!)

Genuinely though, to recap, this week was mostly tiresome as a whole, and I also should catch up on some sleep probably. But I know for sure I won’t because I know I will be chilling and playing Skyrim today.

I started a new, fresh playthrough of Skyrim this week because I wanted some much-needed peace and calm, and I think it was a good way to take my mind off the hectic and stressful parts of the week.

Speaking of Skyrim, this week, I listened to a LOT of songs from the Skyrim soundtrack, by Jeremy Soule. I think my most-played tracks this week were From Past to Present, Far Horizons, and Secunda. Mostly played when I felt like I needed some soothing. Soooo calming, dude.

In any case, I might rest up for the rest of today because a LOT happened this week. I am also grateful for the experiences I’ve had this weekend, too. I haven't seen this much action in a while (literally). Feels good.

Until next time! (Closing note: Man, I’ve had a lot of outings so far this month, huh?)
