Week 31, 2026: Stargazing

August is here. Man, how quickly this year seems to have gone by, looking back.

On Friday I went to the rooftop to do some stargazing. It was a clear sky (very pleasant weather), and I used an app called Stellarium to keep track of different stars and planets in the sky. Below are two photos of the Moon and Venus.

(The Moon looks like a giant spotlight in the sky, while Venus is just a tiny dot, haha.)

Yesterday I bought my dad a new e-reader. His old Kindle was on its last legs and it was about time it got an upgrade. I got him a Kobo Clara and he’s happy with it. I’ve sideloaded a lot of books for him to read. I really want him to start reading again.

Speaking of books, I picked up Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky yesterday. This will be another slow read. Man, I’m really doing all the Classics this year, huh? (I mean. . . it’s only been ONE book I’ve read this year so far.)

I also bought a new watch (yet another Casio) because I don’t own a black watch in my wardrobe.

Well. This will be my last watch purchase for sure. (Ahem.)

Today, I’ve not been up to much. I’ve been watching random YouTube videos. Wired has this new series that debunks AI slop videos, and the last one was on Ancient Egypt. Enjoyable. I’ve also been trying to get tickets to watch the new Spider-Man movie, but no luck as of yet!
