Week 21, 2025: Cinemas, cars, and comfort TV
G'day folks.
I missed last week's note as I had family over, and between all the catching up and chaos, there wasn’t much worth reporting. Mostly work. Meh.
This week, though? Much more eventful.
I kicked things off by watching the latest Mission: Impossible movie (The Final Reckoning) at the local cinema with my work mates. I liked it and I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars. I honestly can't remember the last time I was in a theater, and it felt great to be back in front of the big screen. I’m considering going again tomorrow with my dad.
Why stop at one? I also watched Sinners by myself at the theater today. Definitely highly recommended. That makes two movies in a week — who am I?!
I ordered a denim jacket and a pair of white Converse Chuck Taylor 70s. Honestly, this decision was partly inspired by a convo with a friend about me not looking my age a while ago, and he joked that I should deck myself out in denim head to toe. Challenge accepted, Mathias. Also also, I think this might just be the year of jackets for me. Returning to my roots, baby.
I also test drove two Hyundai cars — the Exter and Venue, but neither suited me well. Being tall has its perks, but car shopping isn’t one of them. The cabins felt cramped and stuffy. Then I checked out the Suzuki Baleno at a Nexa showroom, and it felt much more spacious and accommodating. It’s currently leading the race to be my first car. Woot! (I am still planning to check out the i20 before I decide.)
In between all that, I’ve been binging Ted Lasso. It's exactly the kind of funny and wholesome energy I needed. Pure comfort TV.
Oh, and I finally finished reading Pet Sematary by Stephen King — a book I began way back in January this year. Better late than never. I’ve now started The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. Let’s see if I can reclaim last year’s reading streak.
Until next time. ✌️
